Lagoa Azul stoke

Tomorrow is the start of the final leg of the IGSA Euro tour, and below are some reasons why we are excited and why you should be too.

Over the next few days, we will be stationed in beautiful Cascais, guests of the wonderful Portuguese people, knee deep in skateboard racing. This years Euro tour has been awesome and AllAroundSkate has been at every single race, starting at Bo Peep in England, and the 3 World Cup races, where (if you were lucky) you would have gotten some of our stickers from a bald photographer or some other Catalans.

We are all headed up to the beautiful seaside city of Lisbon tonight where the fun begins. This is probably our last chance to see some of our skating friends for a while, so the party will be fun! The riders list looks pretty good. Lots of local racers and many people from all over Europe… except the Vikings *sad face*. (Unless you count their Finnish neighbours, who are being represented by quite a few girls).
What’s up for grabs? Let’s start with the Women’s category. World Champion Bekks is also sitting on top of the pile, and with none of the other top 4 attending, she looks to end the season again as Europe’s fastest woman. Super stoked! For Junior 1, we only have 2 competitors, ratpack members Lenny and Aero Gero. Neither are attending, so Lenny again retains his top spot.

It gets a bit more interesting in Junior 2. Dutch Supergrom Deen Mondt is the current highest rated European in his first season competing, and has been one to watch since he won the ”king of the hill” competition at Bo Peep beating off some of the fastest men in Europe. Deen will be attending the race this weekend as part of the Sick entourage and will be looking to cement his place as the #1 grom. Number 4 on the list, the blonde Catalan Oriol will be there to also challenge for that first place.

Open class. This is where it gets really tasty. Adam Persson is currently rated number one after a storming season starting with a 2nd place finish at Bo Peep and most recently a stellar performance at the World Championships in Calgary. Alas he is soaking up the sun in California and won’t be in attendance. Numbers 4 – 7 will though. This is going to be an epic battle for top spot. Hertler is fast, really fast! He sits in 2nd and is best positioned to come out on top of the pile. Behind him are 2 superfast Swiss riders, Kozakov Champion Kevin Bouaich and Mr 9.81 – Nicolas Robert. Both these guys are on the Sickboards team and will be looking to join their buddy Deen at the top of the rankings. Another strong competitor close behind is another gnarly German – Alex Dehmel. The O&H man will also be looking to be superfast on this sunny seaside track. Whatever happens, we’re really looking forward to the finals on Sunday!

Lots and lots of reasons above to follow our live coverage on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This will be way more exciting than the Olympics or whatever your favourite ball sport is. We’ll be joined in our ”commentary box” by some of our friends and it will be a blast. We will also have daily text and video reports, so get ready for those!
