Yes! Winter is over.
The sun is shining , not a cloud in the horizon, there is no better way to celebrate spring than to go for a ride in St. Robert Cross!
Clermont Ferrand recently became populated by many new longboarders, strangers to us, (the regular battalions). Last year there were very few members of our small community and now there are more than ten! These highly motivated riders, both boys and girls, have created an association calling itself Auveride in order to develop activities in their area.
Returning to the location of the France championship- Rigalet; where we had found this dream spot nicknamed “French Maryhill” because of it’s visibility, it’s length and it’s long curves! We came away dazzled but with “blue wheels”, because we didn’t have enough time to exploit this new spot to our heart’s content. I promised to return to use it as it should be – hard!
This weekend was the perfect opportunity: Auveride invited us to skate this spot during the penultimate weekend of March.
So here we are, on our way – Lyde, Pacpac and I with the intention of stuffing ourselves like pigs! After a 3 hour drive we arrived at the spot. It was wonderful. Snow volcanoes had not completely melted, not a cloud on the horizon and all the guys were already waiting!
We noted the presence of French riders from different regions (Grenoble, Lyons, a Vendée, the local team) and even a Swiss, Mr. Bruno Fuchs in person.
After we got ready for our descent we had to wait a while. There is a small disadvantage in this part of France, the direction departemental of equipment spreads small pebbles of volcanic rock which prevent the frost and snow from clinging to the road. So we had to wait several runs before the road was cleaned. At the bottom of the run, some were already down in a heap crashing into the BASTARD corner.
Team Lyon shredding.
The same evening we got a little party in Clermont, a seemingly nice city to live. Then we were hosted by Manon, a new recruit to the team Auveride.
Then the next day we went back on the spot. There ‘was a little more traffic, among them some bikers who either have not been praying for Cramer tire.
Towards the end of after noon, exhausted but satisfied, we packed our bags and left for Lyon.
Too happy with this great Weekend! Thank you to the association Auveride! Now this finally exists, it promises many surprises for the coming seasons!
And one of Chaffouneeeeet!!
